WHO WE ARE

We are Kaizen. It all started when longtime friends from Flushing, Queens, came together with an idea that would soon be introduced to their hometown city. They all shared the same love for Japanese traditions and the simplicity, yet, flavorful ingredients that are carefully constructed into each Temaki. Our passion is to bring an authentic and contemporary Temaki (hand rolls) & Omakase concept that highlights delicate hand rolls and artful craft cocktail pairings to Flushing, Queens. The Executive Chef Sam, also a former Executive Chef at Fushimi, and an alumnus of the world-renowned MASA, brings years of expertise in high-end, high-quality omakase dining. From the perfectly seasoned rice to each precise cut of fish, Sam takes pride in crafting every piece with care and mastery.

Our menu offers signature hand rolls, Donburi, Japanese soups and salads, craft cocktails, sake, wine and craft beer selections, along with Yuzu and mochi desserts. The kamasu hand roll, made with barracuda, makes for a nice “dare dish” for the adventurous eater; and the Chef’s special housemade sushi rice is arguably the most critical base component to authentic temaki. It is a short-grained rice fermented in a proprietary blend, including rice vinegar, mushrooms, shallots, vegetables, and a secret spice blend to differentiate itself from the rest.
